Around the World in Small Plates

Two weeks ago, me and Eton attended a charity dinner event by Lifestyle Network at the NBC tent entitled Around the World in Small Plates, which was for the benefit of I Can Serve Foundation. We got the passes from Sir Monchet as MYC also participated in the event.

At first, I thought it was a bazaar filled with different food stalls and Philippine-made products but when we got the tickets, I was surprised to see 31 boarding passes to food stations of the best Filipino cuisine via the country’s top chef dining establishments and food purveyors. My oh my, my tummy isn’t prepared for this.

Dishes served at Around the Philippines in Small Plates were prepared by some of today’s biggest names in the local culinary scene such as Lifestyle Network’s FoodPrints’ Chef Sandy Daza, Chef Jessie Sincioco of Chef Jessie’s, Curiosity Got the Chef’s Chef Sharwin Tee, Chefscapades’ Chef Gene and Gino Gonzalez, Wildflour’s Chef Allen Buhay, Grace Park’s Chef Margarita Fores, Green Pastures’ Chef Robby Goco, Restaurant 9501’s Chef Myrna Segismundo, Chef Hylton le Roux of Market to Master, Milky Way Café’s Chef J Gamboa, Chef Glenda Baretto of Cafe Via Mare, Chef Ginny de Guzman of Gustare, Chef Juan Carlos de Terry of Terry’s, and Chef Fernando Aracama of Aracama.

Some of the country’s best food establishments also participated in the event like Fog City Creamery, Pepita’s Lechon, General’s Lechon, Rico’s Lechon, La Cocina de Tita Moning, Alavar Seafood Restaurant, Discovery Suites, Bizu, Kitchen’s Best, and Baby Pat’s breads and pastries, Beringer Vineyards, and coffee care of the EDSA Beverage Group.

For hors d’oeuvre, we had a scoop of rum ice cream from Fog City Creamery. I know… We didn’t followed the right food order haha. There were 31 dishes waiting for us and we won’t probably finish everything so we just devoured whatever we wanted to.

Longganisa Arancini were really good but sweets from Chef Roselyn Tiangco totally caught my tastebuds! The purple yam cake, plaisir sucre, and croquant were all perfect!

Cerveza Negra. His favorite!

Paella Tinola of Chef John Stephen Navarro, Chicken Pork Adobo ni Tatang sa Tubo, Corned Beef Sinigang from Chef Vicky Pacheco and Chef Ginny de Guzman’s Lychee Cheesecake were all unforgettable.

Jumped to the last station to get a scoop of Fernando’s Famous Chocnut Ice Cream! Hurrah! This is definitely a must-try!

At this point we were already full but I wanted to try more dishes especially Lechon Bulacan and Pepita’s Hiplog. There’s always a way to burn calories the next day, anyway. 😉

And it was a right decision. It was sooo good! I don’t usually eat lechon but this could be an exception!

Having a little of Creme Brulee cake by Chef Camille Ocampo and a cup of Guinomis from Chef J Gamboa was a good break…

Then after a few minutes, I found myself gorging on Davao Crostini and Kinilaw of Chef Glenda Barretto. I couldn’t stop myself – it’s arocep!!! Did we just fly from Davao to Samar?

48 hrs Kitayama’s Bistek Tagalog Toast, Pinoy Summer Roll, and Organic PBJ (or swabeng delubyo) by Chef Robby Soco was probably the most distinctive for my tastebud. The names sound sooo Pinoy but they were all new to me!

Also took home these premium ensaymadas from Baby Pal. They were packed dazzlingly beautiful I could not just leave them on the table.

I was a bit sad cause we weren’t able to try everything. I wish I had a spacious tummy but even if we only finished half of it, it was really overwhelming as if we’ve traveled from different places in the Philippines for food tripping. I just learned that 100% of the ticket sales went to I Can Serve Foundation for the benefit of the Super Typhoon Yolanda victims. Thank you so much Sir Monchet for this sumptuous experience!

All photos from this entry were taken with Nokia Lumia 1020. Looks great, right? This smartphone could take wonderful food snaps and upload it directly to your Instagram or any other social media accounts. I think this smartphone is perfect for bloggers who love taking appetizing food photos just like me!
