Resorts World Manila – Imperial Festival 2014

Celebrating the Lunar New Year, Resorts World Manila welcomes the new year with their two-week celebration of Imperial Festival. They have prepared series of acitivies and Chinese themed booths which are all open to RWM members.

It all started with the lion and dragon dance opening ceremony. It’s been a long time since I’ve watched a dragon and lion dance! If you’re not familiar with this traditional performance, the lions basically approach the green (vegetables) and red envelope like a curious cat, eat it and keep the red envelope. It is believed to bring good luck and fortune to the business.
The dragon dance, on the other hand, is performed by a team of dancers and mimics the movement of the river to drive away evil spirits.
Followed by firecracker lighting ceremony. I wasn’t able to take a photo of it using my cam as I was covering my ears but I did snapped a quick one and posted it on Twitter! Loud firecrackers were lit up to bring forth luck and prosperity to everyone especially the casino patrons. I’m sure those loud noises frightened Nian!
Cai Shen Ye, the god of money, covered his ears as the loud firecrackers were lit
After that, they threw away coins and ang pao to everyone and offered fruits to guests as well. I was really impressed with the setup for this year’s Imperial Festival. Am I in China?
Booths for Polland Hopia, fruits, Bee Cheng Hiang barbecue meat, Kimbee nuts, and Double Treasure Chinese lucky charms can be found at the center of the mall too. Traditional goods for the Lunar New Year will be open until February 13!
There were also fruits for sale at Rose Exotic Fruits
