Photodiary: Things To Do in Jongno, South Korea

There are some good places to visit at Jongno-gu, Seoul in South Korea just like historical sites. You can visit the Hanok Village, Gyeongbokgung Palace, Changyeonggung Palace, Changdeokgung Palace, Dongmyo Shrine, and Jongmyo Shrine just by walking around the area. But before that, let’s have a quick stroll. They have some nice shops here too and the place is peaceful even at daytime.

Found a cute coffee shop in this place that looks like the cottage of the seven dwarfs!

Costume and souvenir shops filled the streets of Jongno but more expensive than in Namdaemun.

Time for 7eleven shopping!

There are a lot of meals served in the streets of Jongno similar to turo-turo in the Philippines. In Korea, even those in black suits eat in the streets! We really wanted to try it out too but they’re all expensive considering you’d be sitting in mono blocks and eat outdoors. 

We opted to dine in an affordable yet decent restaurant and we found this. Pajeon House! Thanks Grace for translating this.

Pajeon, according to wikipedia, is a variety of jeon with green onions as its prominent ingredient, as pa literally means ‘green/spring onion’ in Korean. It is a pancake-like Korean dish made from a batter of eggs, wheat flour, rice flour, green onions, and often other additional ingredients depending on the variety.

This place served delicious Korean pancakes until midnight. For just around 7,000 krw each, you get to fill your tummy with freshly cooked authentic Korean food.

I think the owner is such a nice guy and a multitasker too. He takes orders, cooks pancakes, serves food, bills customers, and cleans tables too. How could he manage do all of that without helpers? Well, I noticed most of the shop owners in Korea do the same.
