I’ts good to be a student once again! Oh, I miss this point of my life. After graduation, I immediately started working in a company then after two years, we opened our digital marketing business. We’re very hands-on so it eats too much of our time. Don’t get me wrong. Starting up my own business was my dream since elem (I have a proof in our grade school yearbook!) but there are more things on the side that I wanted to learn. Like for example, learning new languages, better skills in photography, more techniques in makeup and styling. Right now, I think that I am just doing the way I learn things but definitely, I am missing a lot. I need a guide and become updated especially in the fashion scene.
So I attended a class at John Robert Powers – the first school I thought that would help me improve in so many ways. I’m familiar with the school (of course! It’s the leading personality development school) and finally, it’s my turn to step in and learn more about Image Makeover, Visual Poise, and Power Dressing!
JRP offers courses on modelling, acting and social skills too. It’s great for those who have plans in entering the Entertainment industry but JRP have a lot more courses offered worldwide to empower and help unleash an individual’s full potential. They aim to develop students of any age. From kids, teens, adults, professionals, and even executives!
The first class I took was Power Dressing and our facilitator was Ms. Pat. We were just 5 in the class and we were asked to bring our own set of clothes. It’s a small class, yes, but I like it because all of us were assessed and everyone’s concerns were answered easily.
We began by introducing ourselves and answering some questionnaires. I felt a bit old as I heard their ages hahahaha but after a while I realized it’s not intimidating at all! Everyone was friendly, approachable and willing to learn.
Ms. Pat discussed the importance of Dressing Up and explained how it could further assist and address our needs as adults and executives.
I thought there would be some ‘okrayan’ on our styles but there was none. Ms. Pat was very open to whatever style we want to sport and she helped up redefine our look while pinpointing on our mistakes constructively.
She also discussed our body types. She helped us determine our body line despite the flab and weight we were all conscious about. Here, I learned that weight does not affect the individual’s personality and appearance. Your personality can be determined on how you carry yourself. It’s all about self-confidence!

I love how Ms. Pat explained the right way of dressing up. She even noticed the small details that affect our overall look! She also taught the proper cuts that would be best for our body types.
She mentioned that my body is not proportioned – HAHA. One hip is higher than the other and it’s probably because of how we carry our bags and that should be corrected before it gets worse. Oops. I always carry a heavy one! See, it’s something I wouldn’t know right away if I just sit in front of my laptop and watch tutorials on Youtube. Each of us has different body types and it’s better to be assessed properly so you’d know what type of clothes to wear and what techniques you should apply to make your appearance look better.
Those were just a few of what I have learned at JRP! I can’t wait for my next class!
JRP has an Open House this March 27 and 29 at their schools in Quezon City and Makati. Register now and have a sun-sational summer experience! Visit
