So I received a new phone in my mailbox. It’s the ASUS Zenfone2 Laser! I had no plans of replacing my phone yet but this one looks so sleek and promising so I gave it a try.
1. PixelMaster 2.0 Camera
It’s not just a reliable phone but also an awesome gadget for your selfies and travel shots too! The phone has an 8-Megapixel camera and Laser Auto Focus system that is as fast as 0.3 second. Great for selfie addicts just like me!
Nowadays, people would take the phone’s camera quality into consideration before purchase. I could say that ASUS did it so well when it comes to its camera feature even in low light. Here’s its sample performance from my Instagram account:

The laser auto-focus even accelerates close-ups photography, compensating for the extra distance created by the lens receding during framing. It also has the advantage of working well in low-light environments – which is a constant problem with contrast and phase detection.
You can choose from different camera effects such as Auto, Manual, HDR, Beautification, Super Resolution, Low Light, Night, Depth of Field, Effect, Selfies, GIF Animation, Panorama, Miniature, Time Rewind, Smart Remove and All Smiles. While taking the photo for IG above, I actually abused the Beautification mode!
2. Sound Performance
I inserted a simcard (it’s a dual sim phone btw) and tried calling familiar numbers. The call quality is great with no signal lost during the call even if I am here at a certain spot of our building which normally has signal problems. The in-call sound quality is good and clear because of its built-in dual microphone. No noise, echoing, or whatsoever. For easier conversation and better audio, I use the headset which is included in the box.
3. Zen Design
This ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser is sleek but has a better grip compared to iPhone 6 Plus because of of its itsergonomic arc design, with its curved back and thinnest edge measuring just 3.9mm. It is designed to comfortably fit your palm for ultimate comfort without sacrificing style –the back cover features an exquisite hairline design with a metallic finish.
The curve design also allows ZenFone 2 Laser to eliminate the visual and physical obstacle on the side, making it onesharp looking device even when simply place it on the table.
4. Beautiful Display
ZenFone 2 Laser features the 5.0-inch HD (720x1280p) IPS display for vibrant colors, good brightness levels and wide viewing angles up to 178 ̊.The 720p display panel works great inrendering text and graphicsto nearly all usage scenarios. The ZenFone 2 Laser’s screen-to-body ratio sits at 72%(ZE500KL), a whole 10% better than the first generation ZenFone 5 and 4% more than the iPhone 6 Plus. It also has Corning Gorilla Glass 4 which offers durability and ultimate protection to protect the phone from drop damage and breakage.
Here’s a comparison from the past Zenfone model:
Also loving its TruVivid Full Lamination which minimizes reflectiveness and maximizes clarity, brightness and touch responsiveness, providing an extremely comfortable and enjoyable viewing experience even when it comes to outdoors.
Oh, one more thing! No lag and it downloads/runs apps really fast!
5. Long Battery Life
Battery life may vary from one person to another depending on how they use the phone and the usage scenario. I haven’t tried using the phone for long hours of call/video chat but I am happy with ZenFone 2 Laser’s 3,000 mAhLi-Polymer, which gave me over 36 hours usage on 3G (single
SIM) and Wi-Fi turned on throughout the period. During my selfie routine, I was able to take over a hundred photos. I could already feel the battery heat but it is not that hot. Aside from that, it is replaceable so you will be worry free from the battery drain.
6. Affordability
Would you believe this is just around Php 7,295 – Php 7,695?! That is such a great deal for a chic phone like this and its quality! This phone fits the Christmas gift list budget! There are actually a lot more to love about this phone. You just need to experience it. I have some friends who already made the switch (Hello Ice and Jaims!) and are now enjoying ASUS. If you are looking for a replacement phone this holiday season, a gift for yourself or a surprise present for your loved ones, I do recommend this phone.
