Dreams do come true. I’ve always wanted to become a ballerina but I thought I’m already too old for it and besides, I’ve never been a dancer in my life. So I just settle for tutu skirts, ballerina shoes and stare at a cute musical box. However, last Thursday was my lucky day as I was invited to join a class with none other than the Prima Ballerina Lisa Macuja-Elizalde at Ballet Manila’s new branch at Fisher Mall!
A beginner and a dreamer like me can still join ballet classes. Wala pa namang pointe technique! Beginner’s class is more like barre and pilates combined.
Some of my classmates were also my blogger friends!
Hi Earth!
With Rhea Bue
Krissy Cruz and Helen Blas
From Left to Right: Vina Guerrero, Earth Rullan, Me, Rhea Bue,
Julia Arenas, Kira Ramirez, Bambi dela Cruz and Alex Lapa
Before our class, we got a chance to watch ballet performances by talented members of Ballet Manila.
As for beginners like me, we had a classical ballet adult refresher course wherein we were taught on the proper stance and posture for Classical Ballet. Yes, Ms. Lisa was our teacher for the day!
The class was all about finding our center by remembering our rectangle and turning out our feet. Thanks to their special flooring for helping me with my balance. It has layers of wood and rubber padding, and is designed to be soft on the dancer’s joints.
Ballet Manila is now closer to Quezon City people. If you would like to enroll yourself or your kids in ballet, visit their new branch in Fisher Mall. Here’s their complete schedule:
I’ll be taking my next class there as well very soon. See you!
