Absorbing The North – Trip to Tugue

The arrival

Started the trip with Nathan’s (with an H) located near the airport. Pansit Cabagan, you’re the best.

Chapter 1: Absorbing the North

Getting to know Jean better and exploring the place where she grew up has been a truly enriching experience.

Connecting our minds via bluetooth water waves…

Chapter 2: Chasing cows and sunsets

A side trip to a thrift store in Iguig. Next time, we need to try the sugar baby watermelon in Amulung. That should be around June.

A trip to Tabuk, Kalinga…

Chapter 3: Calm before the storm

Interview with the artist — the Siamese way! Literal na quiet on the set!

We now fully appreciate why Jean chose to stay here to create her art—her inspiration clearly comes from the rhythmic waves of the sea.

Chapter 4: To the edge of Luzon

I finally got a chance to get up close with a cow. She hated me!

But seriously, Aparri. What a memorable dreamscape.

Chapter 5: Reliving and adopting childhood memories

Pansit Batil Patong while #GoringPH was attacking the North.

There were many panciterias in the area, but Jean said that Eva’s Panciteria on Annafunan Street was the best!

Chapter 6: Impromptu visits

Due to the typhoon, our flight back to Manila was delayed, but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise as it gave us the opportunity to explore more of Tugue. Gavva lang! First stop, St. Peter the Apostle Metropolitan Cathedral.

My mode of trades at Cagayan Museum and a cat at Pan de Cagayan

The whole city experienced a power outage, but it didn’t deter us from visiting the Cagayan Provincial Public Library. Because what else is there to do?

Chapter 6: Balai ni Jean

The cancelled flights turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Spending time cozied up with Hikaru, Rairai, and Yuri was an absolute delight! We shared laughter, stories, Spotify playlists, and unforgettable moments that truly brought us closer together. This trip was packed with fun adventures and cherished memories, making it all the more special. Sometimes, the unexpected changes lead to the best experiences!
