Let’s go back 10 years, shall we? Back then, I was a simple Fine Arts student who wished nothing but getting good grades to make my family proud. Plates were rolling almost 24 hours a day but I still managed to get a sideline to help with school expenses and to buy the things that I want without asking for money from anyone else.
One of the things that made me happy after a tiring week from school and work was makeup shopping! I’d usually drop by SM Department Store and pick up my favorite drugstore makeup brand, Maybelline. I started loving Maybelline in college because of its affordability and fab magazine ads (Hello Zhang Ziyi, I still adore you!). As I grew older and smarter, I realized that I was indeed buying the right cosmetics because Maybelline is definitely a quality makeup product at an affordable price!
During those days, I also purchased Cosmo magazines and used their beauty-related ads as references for my plates. Now that gave me an idea to open up my memory box and share with you some of the wonderful things from my college life. To my surprise, I still have my watercoloured/penciled artworks featuring Maybelline and Georgina Wilson too! She’s one of our local models I truly admire even before. I am so glad I have kept these things with me! Seeing my past works and interests make me realize that nothing really changed in my dreams and passion.
I wanted to become a business woman when I was in elementary and would you believe that I had no idea what a business woman is? I just like the sound of it. LOL. In high school, I accepted website projects from higher batches (oh my, don’t tell anyone!) because I wanted to practice my web designing skills – and earn money at the same time. Hehe. At that time, all my free time goes to surfing the net, exploring Japanese fashion. Before I entered college, I got my hands work to paint, got curious in Advertising then at the middle of it, I got into global fashion and so I chose to end my thesis with it. Seems like magic but unconsciously, all my dreams were like molded into one. Everything began with a heart and mind. Now, I am running a business together with my partner, which we started from scratch and with zero capital, and we’re now working closely with clients from art, beauty and fashion industry for their graphic (both traditional and digital) and website needs. Totally a dream come true!
Everyone in the family teases me as I open my Elementary yearbook and see what I wrote as my ambition – ‘Business Woman’. Still can’t believe I submitted that! And I made it happen!
“Follow your heart and everything will fall to its place.”
Do you believe in this quote too? How do you make your dreams happen?
Running a business isn’t always fun. Sometimes, it is exhausting as well especially when you are giving your all for it. After a hard day, you also need to treat yourself. That’s why when I heard Maybelline is giving beauty enthusiasts a chance to live the Maybelline New York dream – I immediately said yes! I want to cover Fashion Week real time. Not just by looking at other feeds and resharing the gorgeous pieces at the runway. I want to see what happens at the back stage. How makeup artists, stylists, designers and models work together in order to put up a great show. And of course, I really want to meet Georgina Wilson and experience Maybelline New York Fashion Week with her! If given the chance, I would bring my artwork with me and ask her to sign it! 😀
A chance to go to #MaybellineNYFW and show how a Filipina #MakeItHappen would be another dream come true! That would be a one of a kind and unforgettable experience!
Help me achieve my dream by liking my posts in Instagram or regram my Maybelline posts for a chance to win special gift packs from Maybelline too!
