Last week, I celebrated my birthday at Made in Candy store! And not only that, they invited me there to make my own candies. A candymaker for a day!!! How cool is that?
First step: MIC candymen boiled the sugar for 20 minutes and poured the melted sugar on the table for us to add flavor.
Then, they showed and explained to me how to make a smiley candy! (wish mine won’t turn sad!) It looked so easy but it’s actually pretty hard to make.
As the sugar reached the right temperature, we wore protective gloves since we were about to handle a candy on a hot table.
The store became an instant attraction when we started kneading the candy. The crowd gathered outside and watch …and probably waiting for some free treats after it. ;p (Yes, they do give some candies to them after the show)
Cut and roll, cut and roll. Imagining it as Play-do turned LEGO.
Now here’s how chef turned this giant batch of sugary goop into perfect bite-sized treats:
The last step was to pull, stretch, and chop! They chopped the smiley’s head! Huhu. T_T
Here’s how it looked like after chopping.
SMILEY HARD CANDIES! Some candies were made into lollipops too.
