“Jump on New Year’s Eve and you will grow taller.”
It’s one of my favorite New Year’s Eve beliefs and practices when I was still a kid. Sad to say that right now, I’m only 5’2. Haha. Yes, that’s how we celebrate New Year here in the Philippines. While noises and firecrackers is believed to drive evil spirits away, jumping as high as you can 12x can make one taller! Hahaha!
Saving all my jumps for the New Year. I’d be exerting all my energy tomorrow! Here’s what I wore as a preparation. Lol.
Jumper from T+BC // Hair bow clip from Pinkbox
Watch from Ice Watch // Socks from Daiso Japan // Shoes from Landmark
Hello there pink watch and ring!
We also put coins in our pockets for a prosperous new year. Polkadot outfits are also believed to be a sign of good luck. I remember wearing a dress with big polkas on it 2 years ago! Then mom usually opens all the windows, doors, lights to bring all graces to our home.
Does getting Maruko-chan presents brings good luck as well?
We do follow a lot more Filipino traditions and we all do it for good luck. Do you believe in New Year superstitions too? Happy New Year everyone!!!
