Let’s have a quick jump to Baguio. When in Baguio, I always look for these things: strawberries, crinkles and batirol! The first two are easy to find. Now how about batirol? My fave Choco-Late de Batirol is located in Camp John Hay but if you’re in the middle of the city, why not try this one of a kind resto in an open space? It’s Tsokolateria Artisinal Cafe, located at Upper Session Road, Baguio City. This place is said to be famous for everything cacao.
The place is just near SM Baguio. If you are familiar with Pamana, Hawaiian BBQ, and Barrio Fiesta near the Igorot Stairs, you’re on the right track. For a more romantic feel, best to visit the place at night.
We started with one of their Tablea House Blend which is Sili Labuyo Tsoko Blend (Php 130.00). I don’t really like spicy food but this fiery pot of hot choco is a winner!
Who says it’s just a place for hot choco? They also offer wide array of choco-based dishes like palitaw, bibingka, sandwiches and pastas which have a unique (and kinda weird) blend of batirol.
So, we ordered this Dilis Pasta. The chocolate syrup is separated from the pasta so you can go with this unique blend slowly. The mix of chocolate and dilis is actually good! It’s more like bittersweet chocolate that kills the smell of fish. I find the chunks of brownies out of spin but they can go after the pasta as a dessert anyway.
Overall, Tsokolateria is a splendid and unique chocolate experience. I like the concept of their store and how they make things “choconsistent”. Service is over the top as well. Best for the cold weather in Baguio from October to February. If you are looking for artisinal chocolate drink or new twist in our traditional Filipino desserts and dishes, Tsokolateria is definitely a choice to consider.
Would you dare try it?
